CSX Operation Lifesaver SD70MAC 4568 leads Local L694-15 in Union City, GA 7/15/24
Another one of those in between job specials, and I had to chase this one down all the way from my job to just before its destination in Union City, as CSX Local L694 waited and waited to get permission to come into Dog House yard. The OLS 4568 has been in captive service on this train, for a couple weeks, now, and L694 usually keeps the same power on its rotation, for a good while. Who knows how long this will last, but I have seen power stay on this turn for a couple months before swapping power.

This is my first legit catch with my new Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra phone, and I must say I'm pretty satisfied with it. Is it much of an upgrade from S21 to S24 Ultra? It only took me the 13 years of railfanning myself to catch one of these Montana Rail Link units. Too bad it comes at the cost of the acquisition of the Montana Rail Link railroad, to BNSF, at the end of 2023, but now, you can see some MRL units roaming the BNSF system. It had been a very long time to catch this rare NS Heritage for me, I think i only caught this one once before this day. On January 6th, I was able to chase it from my favorite NS North end location at Green, all the way to Austell, also getting it in Braswell & Dallas. NS 366 made a Notch 8 appearance, too.

Awesome catch. Equipment was from 1st Brigade Combat Team; 82nd Airborne returning to Fort Liberty, NC from Joint Readiness Training Center (Training) Rotation 24-05 @ Fort Johnson, LA which ran from March 9 thru the 22nd, 2024.

US Hwy 23 parallels the line from McDonough to just about Macon. It might go away from the tracks at some times, especially around Jackson, but it's best way to stay with the trains down here, unless road traffic is really bad.
